Late 3rd-2nd millennium BC. A mixed group of five artefactsprising: two stamp seals apanied by typed and signed scholarly notes issued by the late W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which state: (W-28) 'Stamp Seal of lead, 32 x 32 x 10mm. This is a square plaque with large spension loop on the back. The design on the face shows a standing bison with head up, and under the head a probably cultic object, and above its back script symbols. Thises from the Ind Valley or a neighbouring area and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. It is bent and worn, but extremely rare for its material. The script has not yet been deciphered.'; (T-475) 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, base: 27 x 25mm, Overall: 37 x 34 x 25mm. This has a round base, not now quiteplete, with a design in raised line consisting of a central circle surrounded by six crescents. The handle mounted on the flat back consists of a stylized representation of the front parts of two horned animals joined with hole under their joined bodies. Thises from west central Asia and date to c. 2000-1500 B.C. There is some damage to the base, and to the head of one of the animals, but the piece is in fair condition. Such zoomorphic seals are rare.'; one bronze with openwork base design of four coiled rings, handle formed as a standing quadruped with curled horns, small bird perched to each corner of the base, one absent; one bronze with similar design of four coiled rings, to the upper side a bird perched to each corner and an upright coiled handle to the centre; one bronze amulet of a seated figure holding both hands to mouth. 145 grams total, 33-45 (1 1/2-1 3/4"). Acquired in the late 1980s-early 1990s. Signo collection, property of a West London binessman. Collection numbers T-475, W-28, U-290, V-942, W-334, academically researched and catalogued by the late Professor Lambert in the early 1990s. [5]
