明 青花山水人物紋八邊捧盒 Chinese. The gently curved octagonal form decorated with a scene depicting a merchant showing goods to a nobleman, framed by a decorative geometric border, the sides of the lid decorated with alternating cartouches of birds and ripe fruit and a floral vignette, separated by a narrow panel of stylized pearls, the sides of the bottom of the box similarly decorated.
