A special Gandharan stucco head from the Indus Valley, ca. 4th - 5th Century AD. This nicely detailed sculpture is 3-5/8 in. high and is carved from stucco. It portrays the Buddha with elongated ears, pierced lobes and Urna. He is depicted with the classic serene expression and curly coif gathered into a top knot. This choice example retains the red facial paint found on the Hadda types. Mounted on stand. (IV618)
