Carved unto a round shape box, with correspondence lid, raised from round sides over a wide cavetto Inner flange circumscribed around the containers lip allows for a perfect fitment on the each rim. Zitan is an extremely dense wood which sinks in water. It is a member of the rosewood family and is botanically classified in the Pterocarpus genus. The lumber is blackish-purple in hue, and its fibers are loaded with deep red pigments which have been used for dye throughout the ages. The entirety is encased in amazing relief carving which gives this box a captivating appearance. The Zitan round armchairs shows smooth lustrous patina, dense hardwood with feathery fine grain. The Under-base bears a reign mark, a four gilt script characters reign mark. Made in The Years Reign Period of The Great Qing Dynasty.
