A Rare Tibetan Polychrome Wood Figure of ChitipatiLATE 18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY清中期 木雕彩繪尸陀林像 連木座finely worked to show the two skeletal protectors shown in ardhaparyankasana with arms embraced and knees intertwined, creating a mirror image of eachother while balanced on conch and cowrie shells, all while holding ritual implements aloft. Each having a third eye, and wide toothy smile, shown wearing a crown of five skulls and draped in a weightless billowing sash. The whole raised above a lotus lappet pedestal and later hardwood stand. Height 14 1/4 in., 36.2 cm. Property from the Collection of Bruce H. and Eleanor A.
