He wears his official costume, a costume of the highest dignitaries of the Qing dynasty, a precious dragon robe of dark blue silk, satin and brocade with a stiff lingtou collar. At chest level, his badge of rank is artfully embroidered on a square mandarin cloth. On his head he wears a mandarin winter hat of silk and mink. The tip of the hat is crowned by a precious ruby. Matching the robe and hat, he wears long, drooping chains. At his feet are three Manchurian cranes, symbolizing long life, old age, wisdom and the relation between father and son.
