All of the few known watches which have been made by Père Bouhelier are equipped with the same linear lever escapement. Père Bouhelier was originally a priest, who had to leave his homeland during the French revolution and settled in England. It is believed that his time in England was the starting point for his development as a watchmaker and ultimately for the use of this special escapement, which can be found in all of his watches.
