Ca. Ø49mm, fitted into a walnut desk case, bottom inscribed 'Meisterstück-Handgefertigt', precision lever movement (ebauche IWC), fine adjusting device, gold chatons, plate signed Walter Helms Altona 1931, very well preserved enamel dial, Breguet hands, in very good condition, in working order. Walter Helms, whose photo in front of the watchmaking school is also on the bottom of the case, made this attractive watch in 1931 in the style of a board clock, fitted into a beautiful, bevelled walnut desk case, which in its inclined position makes a perfect piece for any desk or workbench. In the centre is a recess into which the master craftsman has accurately fitted his handmade pocket watch. The bezel is screwed and when unscrewed at 3 o'clock the watch reveals an opening for the winding square. The timepiece is wound with a square key embedded in the wooden box. The Hamburg watchmaking school, which still exists today, was founded in 1878. It is one of the oldest watchmaking schools in Germany.
