They were among the most important industrialists in Russia until the 19th century. Most of the copper mines in the Urals were owned by the Demidovs, who, in addition to copper, also mined iron for the weapons of the Russian Army, silver, and precious and semi-precious stones, thus obtaining considerable wealth. Since the middle of the 18th century, workshops were established for the production of domestic utensils, as well as tea and coffee pots, which were decorated, as in the item on offer, with chased decoration of Rococo motifs, in part gilt. The following three lots are very similar to items in a tea service from the Demidov Manufactory, formerly in the Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé Collection (Provenance: Galerie Kugel, Paris) and sold at Christie's in Paris in 2009 (Christie's, Yves Saint Laurent et Pierre Bergé Collection, Paris, 23-25 February 2009, Lot No. 184).---------------TEILVERGOLDETE KUPFER-TEEKANNE AUF RECHAUDRussland, Ural.
