張學曾 Ink and colour on paper, hanging scroll. Signed Xixian Zhang Xuezeng, dated jiashen (1944), with two red seals of the artist. Depicting a mountainous landscape scene with plum blossoms onthe side of a stream and a small bridge, the figure, possibly representing the artist himself, is seen in a thatched dwelling surrounded by bamboo and trees. With a poem inscribed to the upper left corner to complement the depictedlandscape scene, "After snow [my] mountain dwell [is just] like [a] monk dorm, fortunately [I still] have plum blossoms [to] accompany [my] sleep a little.
