飞天，是佛教中干闼婆和紧那罗化身。干闼婆，意译为天歌神，紧那罗，意译为天乐神。原是古印度神话中娱乐神和歌舞神，被佛教吸收为八部天龙，后演化成为飞天造型。此件玉雕飞天动感强烈，飞翔之态逼真，雕工写意，尺寸虽小，却见大气象，具有“霓裳曳广带，飘浮升天行”之意境。玉雕飞天传世品在故宫博物院和上海博物馆均有不少收藏，一般以宋、辽、金时期居多，此件亦具有这一时期风格特征。
