He was a director and screenwriter at the Czechoslovak National Film Studio. Director Tichy visited China multiple times throughout his career and filmed several documentaries in Beijing. He was one of the few people who were offered to film Qi Baishi in the documentary. Milan Tichy was deeply obsessed with Chinese culture, especially Chinese painting, calligraphy, Buddha statues, and preserved some wonderful collections.
