Cast-iron frame, belt-drive for leather straps, treadle-operated, walnut plate with recess for a sewing machine, overall dimensions 27 ½ x 15 ¾ x 28 ½ in. – Note: The Remington Company, a booming producer of weapons, sewing machines and many other mass products, was very interested in technical developments and was also looking elsewhere for more products to make and sell. They signed an exclusive contract for the production of typewriters with the developer Christopher Latham Sholes. The Remington 1 was the result. It is similar in style and painting to the sewing machines of the same period as components from the factory were used for both product lines. A sewing machine table of slightly different design was located under the first typewriter and the treadle was used to reset the platen. – An interesting addition to a Remington collection.品相: (2–3/2)
