The cup painted with a depiction of Petrus Abaelardus in despair, the saucer with Héloïse. These depictions of the two famous lovers were based on an English edition of their letters from 1776, which was illustrated with mezzotints by Thomas Watson after works in gouache or pastels by Daniel Gardner (1750 - 1805).来源: Provenance The Hiemisch collection, acquired in 2003.
