白子是蛤贝，黑子是那智黑，棋盒为整木挖空打磨，天然木纹清晰美丽。
日本蛤碁石围棋，在全世界的棋手中都大有名气。白子系天然蛤贝壳打磨而成，做工细腻，根据其表面花纹分为“雪印”“月印”“实用”三个级别。黑子则为日本特产那智黑石打磨而成。蛤碁石棋子特别漂亮，手感也非常好，表面很光滑，像是很薄一层釉，但是不滑手。下棋拍在棋盘上的声音非常清脆，并且很稳，就算按在棋子边缘也不会崩飞。那智黑石子的磨砂更细，棋子碰撞摩擦的声音不刺耳。
