橘鑽、紫鑽是鑽石界裡的非主流當中最為稀少的，橘色彩鑽十分罕見，所以每當出現時，都必定成為拍賣會上的目光焦點。美國寶石研究所也曾對鑽石進行分級及發表相關議題，橘色鑽石的成因與黃色鑽石相似，都是來自於氮原子，但鮮黃色的鑽石會逐漸轉變為橘黃色之後才能變成橘色，而這過程是很少會發生的。橘色的彩鑽稀有到即使在拍賣會上也極少見其芳蹤，而GIA也曾指出橘色彩鑽非常罕有，使得這種散發暖和光彩的橘色彩鑽變得更神秘迷人。
