Of square form, delicately and exquisitely enamelled in the famille rose palette with a central medallion of a ’European-subject’ scene depicting a Western lady with her lady-in-waiting (or child), in an idyllic garden setting with buildings in the misty distance, a little child peeks out from behind the lady, the child in the foreground is picking a fruit, the vignette encircled by elaborate interlinking Rococo-style leafy floral meanders on a turquoise ground, encircled by a frame of raised prunus in gilt metal, the box sides also enamelled and with further raised gilded metal prunus flowers on the front, the interior cover enamelled turquoise, an incised four character reign mark of Qianlong incised on the gilded copper base.
