Of circular form, decorated in shades of underglaze blue, painted with a narrative scene possibly from ‘The Romance of the Western Chamber’ depicting an official apanied by a child and three ladies, all on a terrace with chequered floor, a wine pot on a table to the right, leafy sprigs to the left, and rockwork in the foreground, the rim with four lozenge shaped cartouches containing ribboned auspicious objects including an artemisa leaf and a chime, all reserved against a diaper pattern ground, the reverse decorated with rocky outlets, the glazed base with the six-character mark of Chenghua. Period: Kangxi (1662‑1722). Diameter: 26 cm.
