PROPERTY OF VARIOUS OWNERS A GILT-COPPER ALLOY FIGURE OF MANJUSHRINepal, circa 16th century Seated in dhyanasana with the left hand raised in front of the chest in shunimudra and the right arm extended with a sword held in the hand, dressed in a dhoti , shawl, and jewelry, a mandorla rising behind the head, at the back of the leg a set of original tangs attaching a copper sheet indicating that the figure most likely originated from a larger repoussé structure such us a throneback; custom stand. 4 5/8in (11.8cm) high pare the style, especially sartorial elements, to a Nepalese bronze Chandavajrapani published in Von Schroeder, Indo-Tibetan Bronzes, Hong Kong, 1981, p.363, 97G.
