A group of Coalport and Staffordshire presentation mugscomprising a large, well-painted example decorated with grapes, other fruit and foliage and assorted flowers to the opposing side, initialled 'GA', 14cm high; a twin-handled example 'Presented to Thomas Powell, 1882', nicely painted with a bird perched on a nest surrounded by flowers and foliage, 10.5cm high and another to 'James Baker, Bloxwich 1846', 9.5cm high; a twin-handled example painted with a figure fishing before a lake, with buildings beyond, unmarked, 12.5cm high and a small early 20th century Coalpot mug, printed and painted with flowers, green printed crown mark,(5) Provenance: The Malcolm Sargeant Collection. EA fruit and foliage mug - hairline crack to the rim, near the handle. Further crack running through the base. Some loss of gilding around the monogram.Thomas Powell - Two cracks descending from rim and crack across handle.James Backer, Bloxwich - Cracked, repaired.Twin handled mug - cracked through base, small in-filled foot rim chip with further hairline. Gilding rubbed to interior.Coalport mug - Crack near handle, some crazing to glaze.
