A late 19th century stained beech boot jack of Pitchford Hall interest, of rectangular outline, the upper part of serpentine form with brushes to the left and a scraper grid to the right, hinged for cleaning, applied with a brass plate inscribed 'Pitchford Hall', 43cm wide. Provenance: The Contents of Pitchford Hall, Shropshire, Christsie's, 28 September 1992, lot 473. Footnote: The vendor of the present lot had previously worked at Pitchford Hall and so acquired this item as a memento of his time there.
