Mansur Bin Muhammad Bin Ahmad Bin Yusuf Bin Faqir Ilyas ( 15th Century): Page From Al-Tashrih Bi'l-Taswir Timurid Iran, 15th Century A Persian illustrated anatomy manuscript on paper, of small black naskh and Nastaliq script, depicting the anatomy of the human body with the nerves and the gut, ruled with later outer margin containing verses from the Quran written in black naskh script divided by gold verse roundels outlined in black. Measurement: 19 x 14 cm. Catalogue note: A Persian scholar, Mansur ibn Elyas, a late 14th century anatomist and physician from Shiraz, published his illustrated book on anatomy. Mansur’s anatomy (Tashrih-i Badan-i Insan) was written following the Mansur’s medical synopsis, Kefaye Mojahedieh. The book of Mansur is believed to be the first anatomical illustrated manuscript containing two-dimensional pictures of the human body.
