An impressive late Victorian gilt brass mounted and inlaid rosewood bracket clock with eight day twin fusee movement striking hours and half hours on a gong, the backplate signed 'Lund & Blockley successors to Viner New Bond St London' and numbered '246', the silvered breakarch dial with all-over finely engraved foliate scrolls, slow/fast indicator to arch, Roman hour numerals and outer Arabic minute numerals and inscribed 'Lund & Blockley', the foliate inlaid case with flower urn finial surmount above four urn and flame finials to corners, united by a balustrade, the sides with vine bordered pierced trellis fret panels and flanked by four ebonized barley twist columns, raised on foliate capped twin paw feet, height 60cm, with pendulum and winding key. Note: John Alexander Lund & Herbert Blockley were highly regarded clockmakers working at 42 Pall Mall, London, from 1872 to 1876 (successors to Viner) and also had a branch in Bombay, India. They were retailers and manufacturers of house and turret clocks, including for Queen Victoria between 1875 and 1905.
