此砚松花石制，伏虎形，盖砚可分，色呈墨绿，上有黑斑，如虎皮之天然纹路，甚为可人。整体砚体雕刻极为精细，伏虎形态逼真，尤其在其眉目及爪牙等细节上的雕刻更显功力；另外，砚盖内部掏堂极为规整，薄厚统一，砚堂处微起宽棱，围坐墨堂，墨堂平滑，砚体与砚盖子母相扣，严丝合缝，工艺绝佳，乃极为少见的伏虎式砚。
