玉质青黄，局部有灰皮红沁。体呈椭圆形，上端出尖若峰，外侧有双扳，用以控弦。此玉韘形制简洁，风格古朴，不琢纹饰。韘原为古人拉弓射箭时套于手指用以护手的工具，后逐渐演化为人身的佩玉。《诗•卫风》有“芄兰之叶，童子佩韘”之句，其传曰：“韘，玦也，能射御则带韘。”也就是说，佩韘是表示具有射御的能力。古人还认为佩韘表示佩带者有决断事物的能力。
