Ca. 1000-800 BC Composed of a circular sheet gold applique with centred pair of ibex goats inlaid in banded black agate portrayed in an elevated pose with paws up right, in between the tree of life which is formed of jasper and surrounded by a border of granules. This scene is decorated by a further linear border of granules which is decorated with a pellet of grapes within even gaps. Between this and the outter edge is decorated with a high stylised zoomorphic pattern with a variety of birds with long tails and conical shaped eyes. Each animal in between floral motifs and dotted decoration. The reverse is the decorated with incised decoration in the form of a lotus. The outer edge decorated with rounded dots; the lotus petal delicately incised. The full report will accompany the item. Size: L:53mm / W:50mm; 28.23g Provenance: From a private collection of Mr. R.
