Description
Translation provided by Youdao
Ca.1100-1125 AD A sword blade of a Viking or Norman type, with deep fuller almost to the tip and straight parallel sides. The blade has no cross guard to help identification and there appears to be only a brass knop on the end of the tang where you might expect a pommel. The surface is quite deeply pitted, indeed a hole has worn through the fuller not far below the cross guard. My own view is that this blade is early medieval to which, at some time, a brass knop has been added. The Style and even the age suggest that is a Dark Age blade. Size: L:629mm / W:32mm ; 310g Provenance: Ex. European collection formed between 2000 to 2020.
