Ca. 2700-2000 BC An Indus Valley pottery bowl with globular shaped body the rim everting from the small rounded bottom. The body is painted with two linear parallel lines below the rim and the lower body. Between these, a high stylised zebu bull with dotted painted eye, flowing ear and large bulbous strong body with fearsome horns. On the reverse, a bird with decorated plumage, dott painted eyes and well defined beak. Size: L:70mm / W:124mm ; 190g Provenance: Property of a London gallery; formerly in High Wycombe Estate collection; formerly acquired on the UK Art market.
