A Gilt Copper Alloy Repoussé Plaque of Tantric Deity Vajra Yogini Tibet, circa 18th century21 cm x 16.5 cmVajra Yogini is the principal female deity of the Chakrasamvara cycle Tantra. She is represented in many different forms, color, peaceful, semi peaceful/wrathful. She can have a single face, many faces and multiple arms with the right foot extended pressing down on the breast of red Kalaratri, left pressing on the backward bent head of black Bhairava; she can have one face, two hands, three eyes gazing at the pure realm of khechara.The right hand holds a Vajra marked curved knife extended downward; the left shoulder is vajra marked katvanga with a damaru (Drum) bell and three hanging pendants with black hair in strands extending to the waist; she is youthful with large breasts, a crown of five dry human skulls and a necklace of fifty, naked females, adorned with five mudras, a Vairochana as crown and standing in the middle of a blazing fire of pristine awareness.From a Private Asian collection purchased in 2020 from Bonhams New York online.
