The lower left-hand end of the back and the end support are not connected; while it appears that the back was cast to accommodate a bolted connection at this point (as above and at the other end of the back), there is no corresponding flange on the end to which this could be bolted (nor any evidence there ever was a such flange). The seat is in old white painted now oxidised and roughened throughout with light surface rust in places, and some lichen encrustation.
