A CHINESE YELLOW-GLAZED ARCHAISTIC ALTAR VESSEL, DOU, AND COVER. Qing Dynasty, Guangxu mark and of the period. The stem bowl with rounded sides raised on a splayed foot encircled by a raised section, the exterior moulded in relief with bands of archaistic motifs, the domed cover decorated with waves and surmounted by a double rope-twist handle, covered overall in a thick egg-yellow glaze, the inside of the foot incised with a six character mark, 26.5cm H. (2) Provenance: a private Swiss collection purchased before 2008. 清光緒 黃釉仿古紋豆,「大清光緒年製」款 來源:前瑞士私人收藏,得於2008年以前。 A comparable example, dated to the Jiaqing period, can be found in the collection of the Art Gallery of New South Wales, acc. no.
