The brushpot is carved naturalistically from a large segment of aloeswood 'chengxiang' wood, in high and low relief to produce the effect of depth and perspective, to depict gnarled prunus blossoms and pine branches to the body and mouth rim, the wood is of deep brown tone with characteristic aloeswood aroma.
