PROPERTY FROM THE ESTATE OF JUNG YING TSAO A SMALL SKY-BLUE GLAZED JUN 'BUBBLE BOWL'Northern Song dynasty Well-potted in spherical form supported by a short, splayed foot, covered inside and out with a crackled glaze pulling thin at the rim to a mushroom tone, a splash of glaze inside the unglazed foot ring. 2 7/8in (7.2cm) diam. 北宋或金 鈞窯天藍釉小盌 The term 'Bubble Bowl' derives from the illusion of a rising bubble from the spherical interior. Well-potted and fits right into one's hands, the small bowl was probably made to contain wine. The monochrome glaze and delightful shape makes it an iconic piece highly desirable among collectors of Song dynasty ceramics.
