BREECE III A PAIR OF BLUE AND WHITE PEAR-SHAPED BOTTLE VASESKangxi period The bulbous pear-shaped bodies finely painted in a bright cobalt-blue with six vertical panels, alternately depicting an archaic gu -form beaker vase with flowers on a four-legged stand with other vessels, objects and books dispersed nearby, the other panels with fan-shaped floral vignettes, one depicting a seated lady, above a slightly spreading waisted foot with prunus blossom and below a slender tall cylindrical neck with everted rim painted with lappets and further prunus blossom flower-heads. 10 1/2in (26.6cm) high 清康熙時期 青花博古清供圖長頸瓶一對 Provenance: James E. Other examples of Chinese porcelain with a 'G' mark to the base are usually of the same high quality - suggesting that this type of mark was indicative of a superior group, custom made perhaps for a discriminating member of the East Indiapany or a private merchant.
