Thangka Depicting the Story of the Life of BuddhaSino-Tibet, 18th/19th century, seated on a lotus throne against a double halo, surrounded with two bodhisattvas and heavenly horses, lions, and elephants, the background filled with life stories of Buddha, distemper on cotton with gilt details, 55 x 34 1/2 overall, painting 34 1/2 x 22 7/8 in. Provenance: From the David Drabkin Collection, many of which were loaned to the Yale University Art Gallery for exhibition/research. Mr. Drabkin formed his art collection while residing in many parts of Asia, including Japan, China, and Thailand. His keen interest in Asian art led him to build a close relation with many fellow art collectors, gallery owners, art historians, and art dealers, such as J.J. Lally.
