单色釉历来被视为瓷器赏玩的最高境界。也许是因为摒弃了图案和杂色的吸引，鉴赏者方能屏息凝神地欣赏釉色和泥土融合在一起创造的纯净之美。甜白釉即是明永乐窑创烧的一种白釉，由于胎体很薄，使得这种高白度的釉格外莹润，给人以一种“甜”的感受，《陶录》释为恬静之意，故名“甜白”。此盘为典型的万曆官窑，造型秀雅端丽，釉色莹润，胎质致密，底书“大明万曆年制”青花双圈六字两行楷书款。
