Property from a private collection, Northern California INODA SEII (1906-1975)Egrets and Lotus Flowers Showa era (1926-1989) A two-panel folding screen brushed in ink and colors on silk depicting four egrets standing in a dried-up lotus pond, three of them huddled on the right, and the fourth moving among the remains of lotus flowers and their stalks, signed Seii and sealed Seii 53 1/8 x 70in (134.9 x 177.8cm) Born in Kyoto, Inoda Seii attended the school known today as Kyoto City University of Arts, graduating in 1927, and later studied under Nishimura Goun (1877-1938). He participated 17 times in the Teiten national art exhibitions and their later iterations between 1931 and 1957, winning awards at several of them.
