Table clock; Napoleon III, ca. 1870. Gilt bronze and porcelain plates. Measurements: 38.5 x 43 x 16 cm. Table clock from the Charles X period, made in gilded bronze and designed with a free-standing sculpture raised on an elaborate stepped pedestal. The base is set on four legs, in the manner of acanthus leaves. The lower part is ornamented with a profusion of elements inspired by classical tradition, such as garlands, which are placed under two painted porcelain plaques on which the presence of an amour d`amour stands out. In the central area of the body is the clock case, with Roman numerals in black. A sculpture of a woman wearing a classically inspired tunic and accompanied by a young boy sits on the perimeter box with a garland. Resting on one of the woman`s arms is a harp, alluding to Euterpe, the nymph of music.
