Clock garniture with vases; Model by ERNEST JUSTIN FERRAND (1846-1932). Marble, calamine and enamel. Measurements: 47 x 44 x 19 cm. Fireplace garnish composed of a clock and two vases. Each of the pieces, the clock and the vases, are designed independently. They all stand on four classicist-inspired gilded legs that give way to a square-shaped veined marble base. In the case of the clock, the case is placed between the base and a cylindrical body that serves as a pedestal for the sculptural figure made of calamine. The watch face, with Arabic numerals in black, has an ornamental design in the centre made of enamel, which harmonises with the boundary between the base and the cylindrical pedestal mentioned above. This pattern is also found on each of the vases, where a concentric enamelled metal finial gives way to the calamine figures of two children conceived as putti, holding the vase with its decorative vegetal motifs in their hands. In the case of the main figure, located above the clock, a plaque can be seen which reads "La Source, Ferrand", in reference to the French sculptor Ernest Justin Ferrand, who repeated this sculptural model on numerous occasions, using it as the main motif in the ornamentation of lamps or fittings, as in this particular case.
