A mid-18th century mahogany longcase clock with eight day movement striking on a bell, the 12-inch brass breakarch dial with silvered strike/silent indicator to arch above a silvered chapter ring and centre with subsidiary seconds and date aperture, inscribed 'Thomas Dawes Northampton', all cornered with cast and pierced scroll spandrels, the hood with brass urn finials, scroll fretwork and moulded arch pediment above a glazed door and turned columns, the arched trunk door with chequer banding, on a similarly decorated plain base and bracket feet, height 226cm (alterations and restoration), with pendulum and a pair of brass cased weights. Note: Thomas Dawes is a recorded clockmaker working in Northampton circa 1745 until his death in 1773.
