Ca. 3000-2000 BCAn early South Arabian alabaster anthropomorphic idol with long cyclinder shaped body with a conical shaped upper section. The alabaster is naturally decorated with a series of red veins spreading throughout the piece. The idol has been drilled forming a lid which is formed of darkish red stone likely also alabaster. This idol could be an early example of a fertility idol which have been found throughout the Near East. Size: L:200mm / W:85mm ; 1.73kgProvenance: Property of a West London gentleman; previously in a collection formed on the UK/International art market in the 1980s.
