Ca. 300 ADA terracotta oil lamp of Loeschcke type VIII, shoulder IVa. The recessed discus features an erotic scene in which the woman lies on her stomach and the man kneels behind her. Workshop mark L MVN PHILE on the bottom. This piece has been precisely dated by means of a Thermo Luminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla, an independent German Laboratory. The samples collected date the piece to the period reflected in its style, whilst also showing no modern trace elements.
