Ca. 2nd half of 4th century BC.A red-figure pottery hydria with a characteristic bulbous body with a short, splayed foot, a funnel-shaped neck with a flanged mouth, and three handles. Two horizontal ones were used to lift a vessel filled with water, while the vertical one, located at the back - when pouring and holding a vase. The frontal decoration displays a robed woman, holding a mirror and lekythos, and fronting a naked athlete, holding a strigil; between, an altar. Restored.Size: L:460mm / W:425mm ; 6.2kgProvenance: Property of a London doctor. formerly in English private collection, purchased from an Art Gallery during 1970s or eraly 80s.
