A CHINESE BLUE AND WHITE PEAR-SHAPED `LOTUS` VASE, HU Qing Dynasty, Qianlong mark and of the period The bulbous pear-shaped body resting atop a splayed foot and rising to a gently-waisted neck, the shoulder set with two archaistic pierced handles, the body painted with a continuous meander of tendrils issuing large lotus flowerheads, the neck with a band of shou roundels set against a ground of wan fret pattern above a band of interlocking cloud collars and below a key fret border to the rim, the foot decorated with classic scroll below a band of large petal lappets, six character Qianlong mark to base, together with a box, 45cm high (2) 清乾隆 青花纏枝蓮紋壺 「大清乾隆年製」款 c.f. A hu vase with similar lotus scroll decoration is illustrated by Geng Baochang, Ming Qing ciqi jianding , Hong Kong, 1993, p.267, fig.455. A similar vase, Qianlong mark and period, was sold at Christie`s New York, 22nd March 1999, lot 294. Another was sold at Bonhams New Bond Street, 14th May 2009, and another in the same rooms on 10th November 2011, lot 125. A similar vase was also sold at Sotheby`s Hong Kong, 3rd April 2019, lot 3630.
