An early Meissen porcelain tea bowl with a peasant scene The front decorated with a peasant smoking a pipe in a gilt oval strapwork cartouche. The reverse with a spider in its web and two red flying insects. The associated later saucer with corresponding decor. The tea bowl incised /, the saucer with blue crossed swords mark, dreher`s number 2. D saucer 13.4 cm. The porcelain before 1723, decor presumably around 1725. Provenance Private collection, Westphalia. Literature Cf. Frühes Koppchen mit Bauernszene in Kartusche Porzellan, farbiger Aufglasurdekor, Vergoldung. Ovale Bandelwerkkartusche mit Purpurfeldern und eisenroten Federblättern um eine bäuerliche Szene mit Pfeiferaucher. Auf der Rückseite eine Kreuzspinne mit Netz und zwei fliegende Insekten in Eisenrot. Passend bemalte, spätere UT. Koppchen mit geritztem /, UT mit Blaumarke Schwerter, Drehernummer 2. UT D 13,4 cm. Meissen, das Porzellan vor 1723, die Bemalung wohl um 1725. Provenienz Westfälische Privatsammlung. Literatur Vgl.
