Description A Chinese huamu-inset hardwood side tableThe top inset with a floating panel of huamu, over open angular spandrels, on square legs joined by a "cracked-ice" stretcher shelf; "hoof" feet.(H: 31 1/2 in. L: 31 5/8 in. D: 17 5/8 in.)Qty: (1)ProvenanceProperty formerly in the collection of Harry J. Haon II (1901-1989), thence by descent.Haon was employed by E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company, and was promoted in 1954 to the Foreign Relations Department as Manager of the European Office, London, England, until his retirement in 1962. Mr. Haon continued to live part-time in London into the late 1970s. It is believed that many of the Asian arts in his collection were acquired during this time in London.Top stained and slightly warped, scratches; cracks and small losses at corners and edges of top; joints loose, a few small ares of fill at edges of joints; one small segment of "cracked ice" lost; losses to underside of feet and underside of one corner element of "cracked ice, where it meets leg.
