|明代是剔红工艺的成熟期，构图平衡和谐，雕工圆润饱满，尤其是在植物形雕饰中，层次丰富，边角圆润，厚实并富于立体感，以上特点皆在本品中有完美之体现，此盖盒扁圆，外部髹朱漆，内为黑漆，双面工，子母口套合。主体纹样以剔红工艺雕盛放之牡丹，花瓣肥润，花叶舞动，有如微风吹拂，肆意张扬。整件盖盒虽尺寸小巧，但造型精准大气，刀法深峻细腻，一丝不苟，气派华贵。
