说明：美国纽约大都会博物馆藏有一幅绘于万历二十一年的九莲观音像。该图具万历纪年题款，据悉该像观音之面容，是按照明神宗的母亲慈圣皇太后所作，以纪念观音菩萨为慈圣李太后“托梦授经”及某日上天因感太后仁慈而在宫中忽降瑞莲之事迹。此两件神迹发生之后，太后遂逐渐确立其“九莲菩萨”转世身份，并在明末年间推崇起九莲观音的信仰。而是件拍品之构图则与大都会博物馆之九莲观音像构图极为相似。
