说明：（内有经书）中国寺院中常见十六罗汉或十八罗汉。据唐代《法住记》载，佛陀临涅盘时，嘱咐十六大阿罗汉，自延寿量，常住世间，游化说法，作众生福田。西藏地方的十八罗汉是十六罗汉外加达摩多罗尊者和布袋和尚。达摩多罗尊者据说能施魔法变出老虎，消灭邪魔。他的行旅形象与九至十世纪初敦煌壁画上所见的旅者非常相似，一说达摩多罗尊者为玄奘的化身，另一说他是新疆地区保护旅者的神袛.
