Description TWO CLOISONNÉ DISHES DEPICTING BIRDS, MEIJIJapan, Meiji period (1868-1912). The two cloisonné dishes with polychrome enamels and copper wires, the rims with floral designs, each depicting birds amid a variety of flowers and blossoming sprays, the backsides with copper wire scroll. The smaller dish with a metal mounting for suspension on a wall.Condition: With traces of wear and minor losses to the enamels, surface scratches, typical firing flaws, and pitting, each plate with a thin crack.
